The wonderful world of WhatsApp
A general reminder that careless or misplaced comments about staff or other parents often upsets “WhatsApp” group members. This term we have had sight of conversations that some of our parents have been engaged in that would be more recognisable amidst a playground of immature teenagers. It is always worth considering both the impact of comments, and that the audience may not be the one that was intended.
Importantly, information circulated on WhatsApp may not be accurate. Please check official school texts, emails and the school website for any information about events and timings.
As we feel the onset of winter, this is a good time to reflect upon the successes of the past term. A number of staff have settled into school and our new Reception children are confident and enthusiastic. We have enjoyed some exceptional assembly performances, visited various venues on school trips, heard the choir singing and the orchestra playing, and raised our expectations of what we hope to achieve. The charitable work – led by pupils – has been rewarding and PTA events have (and will be tonight) an enjoyable aspect of children’s whole experience at Montpelier. During the term I have been reminded of many things, and two in particular. The compassion that so many in our school community have displayed for different reasons has served as an illustration of all that is still good in a world that can feel fragile from time to time. And our children! Today, I had my coat tugged, arm pulled, hand “high fived,” and my letter to a parent given a detailed critique, by 4 and 5 year olds - all because I dared to venture across the Reception playground at lunchtime. What a great school to be a part of.
